Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to William Nichols, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1823, highly-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and rounded spout, decorated with a brushed foliate motif featuring a foliate spray emanating from a series of graduated loops. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. Excellent condition with two small base chips.
