One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, decorated on the front with a series of cobalt daubs around the maker's mark, and on the reverse with a row of cobalt daubs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A crack extending from shoulder to bottom edge on side of jar. A 1 5/8" line on underside, continuing 3" up front of jar.
