Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Ochre Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON," Bennington, VT origin, circa 1833-1841, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with an artistically-brushed design of a flower with stamen and long stem, applied in reddish-brown ochre slip. Cracks and stained crazing throughout. A base chip. A small surface flake near base. A small in-the-firing iron ping below spout.
