Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Decoration, Stamped "NORTON & FENTON, / BENNINGTON Vt," circa 1844-1847, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a floral spray featuring two large blossoms and smaller buds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Rim chips. A 1 1/2" flake to top of rim. Small chips to interior of rim and inner rim for lid. An in-the-firing contact mark to front of jar. An approximately 4 1/2" star-shaped spider line to far left side of jar's front. Two short in-the-firing lines at base.
