Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwell, Manhattan, NY or NY State origin, early 19th century, cylindrical form with footed base and tooled surface, the top fashioned with a central ink hole and two quill holes and decorated with a brushed cross interspersed with four dashes. Two minor base chips and a tiny base nick. Two tiny rim nicks. A vertical hairline extending up side of inkwell, extending a very short distance onto underside and a very short distance onto top. A T-shaped hairline to underside and a short line to base area. Some light salt residue to side of inkwell. H 1 1/2" ; Diam. 3 1/2".
