Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA. N.Y," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crested bird with long tail, perched on a flowering vine. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Chips to both handles. Two chips to exterior of rim, one of which is glazed over. A chip to interior of rim. A faint, 4" inverted Y-shaped surface line to reverse, not visible on interior.
