Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a delicately-brushed design of three flowers connected at the stem. Dashed accents to interior of blossoms. Base with freehand "3" underscored by a stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition. A drip of dry glaze extending from top to bottom on reverse. A small in-the-firing chip to interior of rim, which is glazed over. A small and very faint X-shaped surface line under one handle.
