Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim and tooled accents to midsection and shoulder, decorated with a looping vine culminating in a flower blossom. Freehand stripe decoration below rim. Base of jar decorated with a freehand "2" flanked and underscored by wavy stripes. A tight Y-shaped line on underside, part of which extends onto base area to left of decoration. Some shallow in-the-firing chipping to bottom edge.
