Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Mug, attributed to William Pecker, Merrimacport, MA, late 18th or early 19th century, large-sized, barrel-form mug with footed base, tooled rim, and applied handle, the lead-glazed surface featuring haphazard manganese slash decoration over a mottled mustard-and-orange ground. A lesser-seen form for this maker. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market-example, from a recently-surfaced Northeastern U.S. collection assembled decades ago. Old pen inscription on underside reads, "CONNECTICUT OR MASSACHUSETTS / 1820's-1830's". Broken into sections and reglued. Rim chips. Light wear to handle. H 6 3/8".
