Rare Copper-Glazed Redware Jar, Bristol County, MA origin, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base and heavily-tooled shoulder, the surface covered in a mottled emerald-green, lead-and-copper glaze. Interior decorated with streaks of manganese over a yellowish ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. A fine example of this region's highly-prized copper glaze, exhibiting appealing, vertically-flowing striation to the surface. Heavy chipping to rim. A 1 1/4" piece of in-the-firing adhered clay to side. Small surface flakes. Typical light surface wear. H 7 3/4".
