A Graduated Group of Three Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1870, each of cylindrical form with handles and freehand decoration, inscribed "3," "4," and "5." Three-gallon jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a smooth in-the-firing contact mark on reverse. Four-gallon jar in very nice condition with some small chips to right handle. Five-gallon jar with a large, T-shaped crack at base, part of which extends onto underside, and some wear to surface.
