Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "PENN YAN", circa 1860, squat-shaped, ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a brushed tulip below the "PENN YAN" maker's mark. Brushed cobalt stripe decoration through maker's mark and flanking the spout. X-shaped surface line to underside, not visible on interior, forming a short T at base on reverse. A few in-the-firing flaws to surface, including salt drips. Some light wear to rim molding.
