Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Motif, Stonington, CT, early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, footed base, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted floral motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A 2" in-the-firing separation on interior of rim, not visible on exterior. Two minor rim chips.
