Unusual Four-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Inscribed "May the 26 / 1814," Northeastern U.S. origin, 1814, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, incised at the shoulder with the date, "May the 26 / 1814". Interior coated in Albany slip. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A short, in-the-firing surface line at base, not visible on interior, some minor in-the-firing chipping to top of rim, and some minor in-the-firing contact marks to reverse.
