Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Inscribed "2 Quarts," attributed to Madison Woodruff, possibly with Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flared rim, decorated with the slip-trailed cobalt inscription, "2 Quarts," below an impressed asterisk. A short, tight crack on underside, extending several inches up front to collar. Minor chipping to rim. H 7 1/2".
