Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Reclining Dog Decoration and Rondout, NY Advertising, attributed to Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a reclining dog with spotted body, turned head, and curled tail, seated atop a spot-decorated ground flanked by shrubs. Shoulder impressed with the advertising, "C. ROMER / GROCERYMAN. / RONDOUT, N.Y." Cobalt highlights to advertising and maker's mark. Among the finest New York State reclining dog pieces that we have ever offered. Chips to interior of rim. Some light staining.
