Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Foliate Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK", early 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted vine above the Clarkson Crolius, Sr. maker's mark, surrounded by a cobalt border. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Broken into pieces and reglued with some small chips along cracks. A filled 1" section to left side of spout. Two faint hairlines in handle.
