Rare Bristol-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Cobalt-Decorated Snake, Inscribed "SURE CURE FOR / SNAKE BITE", Midwestern origin, late 19th or early 20th century, cylindrical jug with narrow spout and Bristol-slip-glazed surface, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied clay snake, highlighted in cobalt slip. Incised eyes, nostrils, and mouth to snake. Base with humorous stamped cobalt inscription, "SURE CURE FOR / SNAKE BITE". Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 5 3/8".
