Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and the stenciled advertising, "Wm. HASLAGE / & CO. / GROCERS AND TEA / DEALERS. / No. 18 Diamon / PITTSBURGH, PA.". Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with script "2" flanked by dashes. A slightly-recessed area on reverse, including a smooth, in-the-firing contact mark. A 1 3/8" warped area to rim. A faint, stained 2 3/4" line on underside, continuing 1 3/4" up base. A few spots of staining to surface. A 2" Y-shaped surface line to right of stenciling, not visible on interior.
