Exceptional Glazed Redware Jug, New England origin, early to mid 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and flared spout, the lead-glazed surface featuring gray-green coloration cascading from the spout over a reddish-ground, accented with a manganese-daubed shoulder and handle, as well as orange halos throughout. An artistically-potted example, featuring a delicately-formed spout adjoining a very thin strap handle. Exceptional glaze and condition. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with very minor wear to edge of foot. This jug retains a brilliant luster and appears barely used. H 9".
