Glazed Redware Spittoon, Stamped "W. SMITH / WOMELSDORF", PA origin, circa 1880, wheel-thrown spittoon with recessed opening on top and carved semi-circular opening to shoulder, the surface decorated with spattered manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Underside impressed with Willoughby Smith maker's mark on underside. Heavy chipping to base. A 1 7/8" flake to top edge of rim. Chipping to top edge of rim. Some scratches to recessed top. Light surface wear to surface on side of spittoon. H 3 1/2" ; Diameter 7 7/8".
