Rare and Very Fine Miniature Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, New York State origin, circa 1835, highly-ovoid jug with tall neck and semi-rounded spout, featuring elaborate chip-carved details to the base, shoulder, spout, sides of handle, and base of handle. Midsection with brushed swag motifs. Additional swag decoration emanating from the base of the handle. Cobalt highlights to entire neck and accenting the carving at the jug's base. Rare size, delicate potting, and an exceptional use of carved embellishments. Two very tight lines in handle, suggesting that a 5/8" section of handle is possibly reglued. Otherwise excellent condition. H 3 5/8".
