One-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK.", Clarkson Crolius, Sr. or Jr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1820, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and tapered spout, decorated with cobalt daubs surrounding an oval C. Crolius maker's mark. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal and lower handle terminal. Exceptional color. An approximately 3 1/2" spider line emanating from a tiny surface chip or in-the-firing ping. Some short lines to base. Two in-the-firing contact marks to right side of jug at base. Other typical, minor in-the-firing flaws to surface.
