Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to G. & A. Black, Somerfield, PA, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with tooled accents to body and shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a three tulip emanating from a lightly-brushed stem. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing base chip. A 5 1/4" Y-shaped line below decoration on one side. Two in-the-making chips to interior of rim, which are glazed over in Albany slip. A few in-the-firing contact marks to base area.
