Extremely Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "WM. PECKER", Merrimacport, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt highlight over the maker's mark and at the lower handle terminal. Interior with brown slip coating, including two drips descending from the spout. One of a small number of signed William Pecker stoneware pieces known. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing surface flakes to handle.
