Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Flower Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY / N Y / POTTERY", circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a flower. An unusual design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition. A minor chip to front of spout. Two tiny nicks on reverse side of spout, each with a short, faint line descending from it.
