One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Adam Keister, Strasburg, VA, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled rim, decorated with two-stemmed flowering plant with open-centered blossoms. Collar decorated with dashes along the spout and swags flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed raised-face one-gallon capacity mark below spout. Tight hairlines in underside, connecting to a 6 3/8" Y-shaped crack on side of pitcher. Shallow chipping to rim and spout. A few small base chips. Tiny nicks to molding at base of collar.
