Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "N. FOX", Nicholas Fox, Chatham County, NC, third quarter 19th century, finely-potted jug with bulbous form and semi-rounded mouth, featuring an exceptional salt-glazed surface with heavy glaze runs to shoulder. Desirable size and maker, surviving in remarkable condition. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a pre-firing scratch to shoulder. Jug retains a strong luster to the salt glaze, surviving in clean, "like new" condition. H 9 1/4".
