Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Hudson Valley, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, footed base, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front with a looping slip-trailed design of a flower blossom with spots on the interior. Reverse decorated with a horizontal looping line, extending from handle to handle. Additional looping line decoration surrounding handle terminals. Appealing decoration with excellent color. A large in-the-firing crack on interior only, visible as a slightly-recessed spot on exterior. Rim chips. A few small base chips, one of which is glazed over. An approximately 5" crack from rim.
