One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Capital District of NY origin, first quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and semi-rounded spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird with turned head, ringed neck, and well-detailed body, perched on a stylized branch. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition. A spout chip and minor spout wear. A fairly minor, semi-circular in-the-firing separation line on underside.
