Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Stamped "T.H. WILLSON & CO / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1852-1855, ovoid jar with applied lug handles and tooling to shoulder and rim, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a wreath with bow at base, surrounding a freehand "3". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A desirable, early Harrisburg maker. A 1 3/8" rim chip on reverse. Two 3 1/2" hairlines from rim on reverse. A minor chip and small glazed-over dent to left handle. Some faint spider lines to left side of jar near base. Light water glass staining to interior and some very light water glass staining to exterior.
