Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, decorated on one side with a brushed cobalt design of a flowering plant featuring impressed circular blossoms. Reverse decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted design of an oval beside two circles. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Chipping to base. A shallow, 7/8" glazed-over rim flake. A 3" in-the-firing line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior.
