Very Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Jug, Stamped "W. STATES", Stonington, CT origin, circa 1811-1823, ovoid jug with footed base and semi-squared mouth, the surface dipped in a reddish-brown slip and covered in a light salt glaze. Shoulder impressed with scarce William States maker's mark. Exceptional size. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Two base chips. Some faint surface lines. H 8".
