Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA", NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird with turned head, perched on a stump. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. As-made condition with a 3/4" in-the-firing iron ping to right side of jug and other lesser firing flaws, including a partially glazed-over base chip.
