Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER", NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a flowering plant, featuring two well-detailed blossom and shaded accents to the leaves. Larger blossom features a heavily-striped and lightly-striped, alternating pattern to the petals and large protruding stamens. Slip-trailed "4" to shoulder. A thin 5" crack to right side of crock's front. A 3 1/2" Y-shaped surface line near base on left side of front. A faint 3 3/4" line from rim on reverse, above a small, minor Y-shaped surface line. Two minor in-the-firing pings to left side of crock. A small, shallow chip to bottom edge.
