Rare Half-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "L.N", attributed to Wiley J. Newberry, Crawford County, GA, late 19th century, cylindrical jug with tooled, flaring spout, the surface covered in a mottled-brown alkaline glaze. The stamp "L.N" is believed to have been used by Crawford County, GA potter, Wiley J. Newberry (1824-ca.1895). Desirable size and rare maker's mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a 1 3/4" in-the-firing surface flake / contact mark on reverse. H 9 1/2".
