Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double-Bird Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BROS & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed birds perched in the crook of a tree branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent size to decoration and crock. A tight 5" crack from rim on revere. Several small chips to exterior of rim. Two chips to interior of rim. A very faint 2 1/4" surface line above decoration, not visible on interior. Left handle with a 1 1/2" chip and a minor chip. Right handle with small chips to front terminal. Minor base wear. A thin 3 1/4" crack on underside, continuing a very short distance onto base. Wear to underside.
