Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Stenciled "MURTA & SONS / STONEWARE / MANUFACTURERS / BEAVER, / BEAVER CO, PA.", fourth quarter 19th century, cylindrical form with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the large stenciled maker's mark of Murta & Sons above a stenciled "2" flanked by foliate devices. Excellent condition with a faint 1 3/4" surface line from rim, not visible on interior and a faint spider line to underside, not visible on interior.
