Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "MORTON & CO / BRANTFORD. C.W.", Ontario, Canada origin, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with two flowers blossoming from a central stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Two small chips and a tiny nick to interior of rim. Wear and shallow chipping to inner rim for lid. A 1 1/8" chip to exterior of rim. A 2 1/2" X-shaped surface line to reverse and two Y-shaped surface lines to reverse, measuring 2 1/4" and 2 1/2", none of which are visible on interior. A 3 1/2" vertical line under one handle, not visible on interior. A 6 1/2" hairline under opposite handle. Two small iron pings to front of jar.
