Exceptional Large-Sized Redware Pitcher, Stamped "JOHN W. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa.", circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with footed base, wide spout, and tooling at base of collar, the surface decorated with streaks of manganese over a bright-orange ground and covered in a lustrous lead glaze. Impressed with John W. Bell maker's mark on underside. Desirable in its form and noteworthy in its size, this pitcher is one of the finest examples of stamped John W. Bell stoneware that we have ever offered. Two base chips. Two rim chips. Some wear to surface. H 10 3/4".
