Rare Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Inscribed "B" and Floral Motif, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th centurty, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated on one side with a cursive "B" and on the reverse with a floral motif featuring scrolled stems, resembling 18th century watchspring motifs. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. In-the-firing residue to underside. Minor in-the-firing chipping to base. A minor glazed-over ping to handle. H 6 3/4".
