Extremely Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "J. & L.E. MEEKER / SUCCASUNNY, NJ", second quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, the surface covered in a mottled-brown Albany slip glaze. Succasunny, NJ, now referred to as Succasunna, is located in Morris County's Roxbury Township. This jug is one of a very few signed examples known from this pottery. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some minor in-the-firing flaws to surface.
