Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to William Nichols, Poughkeepsie, NY, circa 1823, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a distinctive foliate motif featuring splayed leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Several rim chips. Base chips. A minor handle chips. Some typical in-the-firing iron pings to surface.
