Two Southern Stoneware Jars, fourth quarter 19th century, both of ovoid form with flared rims and applied lug handles, the larger jar covered in a dark alkaline glaze, the smaller jar covered in a mottled brown glaze. Smaller jar impressed "2" under one handle for two gallons. Larger jar with in-the-firing raised spots to surface, in otherwise excellent condition. Smaller jar in very nice condition with minor handle chips.
