Two Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jars, Catawba Valley, NC origin, fourth quarter 19th century, two two-gallon jars, both of semi-ovoid form with flared rims and applied lug handles, each covered in a dark-brown alkaline glaze, the larger jar incised "2" under. Slightly-larger jar with a restored handle chip, in otherwise excellent condition. Slightly-smaller jar with restored rim chips, in otherwise excellent condition.
