One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "SLH", Sylvanus Leander Hartsoe, Lincoln County, NC, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze with glass runs descending from rim onto body with colorful rutile throughout. Impressed at shoulder with Sylvanus Hartsoe maker's mark above a one-gallon capacity mark. Excellent condition with two minor in-the-firing base chips.
