Stoneware Jar with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "BOSTON.", Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, early 19th century, approximately one to one-and-a-half-gallon, ovoid jar with tall collar and coggled rope design around shoulder, the upper and lower portions of the jar dipped in an iron-oxide wash. A sealed 2" hairline from rim. A tight 5" diagonal surface line near base, not visible on interior. Traces of old paint to rim and interior.
