Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid jar with footed base, tall collar, and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front with a two-stemmed tulip plant flanking two leaves, as well as on the reverse with two horizontal tulips and a single leaf motif. Brushed cobalt wavy line to decoration to rim on front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt underneath each handle. A 1" handle chip. A 5/8" flake to surface on reverse. A minor in-the-firing base chip with tiny piece of adhered clay.
