Unusual Redware Plate with Yellow Slip X Motif, possibly Huntington, Long Island, NY, circa 1807-1860, with coggled edge, the interior decorated in yellow slip with an X surrounded by four groups of wavy trails. Similar in style to the stamped geometric motifs of Huntington redware plates, this design is actually executed by hand. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term Wilmington, DE collection. Chips and wear to rim. Some wear to interior. Diameter 10 1/4".
