Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and tapered spout, decorated with a brushed design of a cluster of grapes hanging from a vine with large, detailed leaf and looping tendril. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced collection of Cowden & Wilcox stoneware. Excellent condition with a minor nick to interior of spout and some light scratches to surface.
